History: excerpts taken from TARDIS wikia

Personality: The first thing one might notice about the Tenth Doctor is his energy. He’s extremely active. It’s rare that you will catch him sitting down or lazing about. He tends to jump around when he’s excited, literally leaping up on the balls of his feet and near shouting. He has a constant habit of running his hands through his hair, which can give it a rather mad sort of appearance. Combine that with his hyperactive behavior and his habit of running away with his thoughts, and you have quite a few doubts about his sanity, which are, to be fair, not entirely unfounded.

Underneath his childlike excitement and his strange appearance is a very old, very wise, and very lonely man. He is often described as a “lonely god” or “lonely angel” by many who look a bit deeper. Much of this stems from the Time War, a horrific war battled over the very universe, which the Doctor fought in and was forced to end himself (to his knowledge at this canon point; don’t get me started on all the wibbly wobbly “Day of the Doctor” stuff). His own people were massacred at his hand in a last ditch attempt to resolve the conflict, leaving him the last of his kind. (Again, this isn’t entirely true. See: “Utopia” to “Last of the Time Lords”.)

While his previous regeneration was angry over the war, this Doctor feels immense guilt, and he feels very, very alone. With none of his own species left, there is no one who can truly relate to him anymore. He also has a habit of taking on companions with much shorter lifespans, who all leave him in one way or another. At this canon point, he has just lost Donna, a companion with whom he was very close, because of a chain of events that started with his own actions. He has a tendency to blame himself for things that couldn’t be helped, such as Donna’s mind wiping incident and really anything involving any person that he feels responsible for. This extends to complete strangers.

As a Time Lord, the Doctor is highly intelligent, with knowledge far beyond that of the human race. He loves to tinker and create objects with varying purposes and results. Some work very well, while others blow up in his face, quite literally. One of his own inventions that has continued to serve him through his lifetimes is his sonic screwdriver, a handy little gadget with the ability to open almost anything, unless it is deadlocked or made of wood (this is also improved later on, but not at this canon point.). Science appears to be not just a skill, but a hobby for him.

One of the quirks of this particular regeneration is that he is quite a hit with the ladies. He has relationships with several historical figures, such as Madame de Pompadour, Mistress of the King of France, and even Queen Elizabeth I, who he married -- unwillingly, on his part. He also had a relationship with his companion, Rose Tyler, though that stayed unspoken. Another of his quirks is his rudeness. He has a bad habit of saying the first thing that pops into his head (like most men) and it comes out...badly. He is often unapologetic, mostly because he hasn’t even realized that what he’s said was rude in the first place.

The Doctor has an immense fondness for life in every shape and form. He is extremely against guns, often walking into dangerous situations completely unarmed. He likes to consider himself something of a Robin Hood type vigilante; he fights for those who cannot fight for themselves. The Doctor is a strong believer in individuality and freedom. He even champions the Oods, a slave race that seems more than happy to serve their owners. While he doesn’t like being saluted to or called “sir”, he does allow himself to serve as an example to peoples that need a standard to model themselves on. On the planet Messaline, after his daughter is murdered, the Doctor tells the human and Hath races to base their new society on him, “the man who never would”.

He is often described as being “fire and ice and rage”, as well as “the oncoming storm” and many other names. The Doctor is the master of being who he feels he needs to be. He is an expert at hiding his emotions and taking on personas to help others, all as part of his personal penance for the deaths that inevitably occur around him. While a part of him knows that what he does is dangerous and that those who pay the ultimate price knew what they were getting into, he still bears the weight of their fates on his weary shoulders, taking responsibility for everyone he meets. The Doctor is a complex being, but can be summed up in just one word: hero.

Why do you think your character would work in this setting? The Doctor is familiar with exploring new worlds and loves to see life in all it’s shapes and forms. At this point, he’d be on his own and really starting to feel that he’s getting older. Six months would be such a short time to someone over 900 years old, or so he’d reason with himself. He’ll have a grand time of it at first, new places always excite him and he’d be thrilled to see human (and alien) expansion up close.

What will your character do for work?

SCIENCE!

no but seriously can he be a scientist pretty please?

Inventory: I would like him to keep his TARDIS with him~.

As for the items on his person, I’d like for him to have his sonic screwdriver, his psychic paper, a pair of tortoiseshell patterned reading glasses, a paperback copy of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, a paperback copy of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, a ball of yarn, a stethoscope, a half-eaten jammie dodger, a cricket bat, a lucky rabbit’s foot, a white paper bag filled with jelly babies, a small notepad, a single stalk of celery, six pens (three of which are out of ink and one has exploded), a pink bouncy ball, a kitchen sink, a bicycle horn, a yellow water pistol, a dinosaur made of pocket lint, a spare shoelace, extra strength hair gel, a remote control bat, a fluffy white towel with a monogrammed FP, a rainbow colored comb, a yoyo, and a lock of blonde hair belonging to Rose Tyler.

New Dodge was hardly the place that the Doctor had been promised, just a tiny little thing of a town, but he was thrilled all the same. It would be nice to have a change of scenery, a completely different dimension where he could be directly involved in the colonization of a newly habitable planet. He’d done things like this before -- the image of a blonde girl with blue eyes dying in his arms pops into his head and he shakes himself to get it to go away -- but this was on an entirely different scale.

Six months on a new planet, one of the first colonists to live and work here. That, perhaps, would be the strangest bit. Having to provide for himself. The Doctor had never really had to do that. Even when he’d been trapped on Earth back in the sixties, UNIT had given him most of what he needed to get by and his trusty TARDIS had provided the rest. But how hard could it be, really? He’d toppled governments and put new ones in their place, saved endless planets from the brink of destruction… Surely he could take care of himself for six months.

Sometimes, I think you need someone. Donna’s voice echoed in his head and the Doctor’s lips twitched in a faint smile. She’d been right, of course. He had needed her more than he had realized. If she hadn’t been there from the very beginning, just after he’d lost Rose and was facing down the Racnoss, the Doctor may have died there. He’d been tempted to stay there, to drown with the Racnoss and pay the price for all the lives he had taken, but Donna had saved him.

But she was gone now and he was left alone once more. Perhaps this time he could manage on his own. Maybe he could just settle down here, him and his TARDIS, and be alright. It was too much to hope for, and deep in his hearts, he knew that, but the Doctor never let himself dwell on it.

No, he was determined to change his ways. No more companions, and the opportunity to come to New Dodge had been timed perfectly. He could get used to taking care of himself here, and when the time came for him to leave, he would be a better man. No more deaths. He just couldn’t bear to lose someone else.

This time, nothing would go wrong.

For the most part, this post won't be too needed, though the Doctor is a highly intelligent alien. As a mildly telepathic being, he has the ability to go into the minds of others, though he does this very rarely and only with permission from the person. He is also very clever and very perceptive. If you would like him to pick up on something about your character that may not be completely obvious, let me know.
